58 years ago, a cowboy, 1/2 Portuguese and 1/4 Algonquian Indian, was born in Massachusetts with a vision. 33 years later that aspiration is a reality. Doc’s entire childhood was in front of the TV watching every type of cowboy show or movie around Roy Rogers; Have Gun Will Travel; Butch Cassidy etc. Doc always put his imagination to work and incorporated his participation in these shows. He decided at a very little age that he would one day be a cowboy with his own “Old West Town”. Doc owned a horse in his teens but Uncle Sam called and Doc went into the Marines and sold his horse. His dream was on hold. Wife & kids came along as he worked for Ford Motor Corporation as a Journeyman technician for 33 years, until his retirement in 2002. Doc is also a master craftsman in his own right and made one-of-a-kind furniture and sold this country décor at local festivals; dressed in full cowboy gear visiting with all the kids and handing out honorary deputy badges. Doc and Deborah after visiting Jackson, CA. to visit another retired friend, fell in love with the area and bought their “dream” 11 1⁄2 acre ranch. Starting with only a house and garage - they came up every single weekend for 3 1⁄2 years and worked on the ranch. Doc, with his craftsmanship and his extensive knowledge of construction built the ranch single-handedly. First the 25’gazebo, pool area, barn, horse arena and Pasture areas and finally HIS VERY OWN “OLD WEST TOWN”. At Doc’s first Annual BBQ at his ranch, Doc hired the Sierra Nevada Guns for Hire. They and Doc immediately bonded. They asked Doc to join the group after his retirement and Doc did! Doc’s dream is lived every day through SNGFH and now Doc’s own team Foothill Vigilantes events, dressing country every day or working hard around the ranch. Doc’s kids finally accept his long hair, beard and mustache which are his trademark. Doc wants to have everyone know that without the total support, love, respect from his wife, Deborah, his BEST FRIEND and ONLY TRUE LOVE he would never have been able to fulfill his Dream.
